Hum.
The screen to my work laptop went all wonky.  I waited several weeks before IT came and picked it up for repairs.  They thought they had figured out what was wrong with it and it'd be a quick fix.  That wasn't the case.  It turns out the motherboard was on the fritz and they had to order a new motherboard to replace it.  They're waiting on the part to arrive.

Sheesh.

The problem is is that I started using my work laptop as a personal laptop and I'd bring it home every day to do whatever I wanted.  That's a problem considering all my wedding stuff is on that laptop.  I'm not afraid that all my wedding stuff will disappear, but I definitely feel the loss of not having constant access to my wedding stuff.

It's not too terrible though since Marty's mom has a copy of everything as well, it's just... I WANT MY LAPTOP BACK!!!

Feh.  I need to get myself a new laptop.  That's not gonna happen for a while though.  :P  Wedding, honeymoon, house, costumes, Dragon*Con.  Oh well, I have my priorities.  LOL

I HATE, HATE, HATE IT.

I swear, whenever there's a problem they have 2 solutions. 1 it's the motherboard or 2 it's the hard drive image.

Here's the problem, in all my years of building, tearing apart, and servicing computers I've never had a motherboard "go bad on me". Even in situations where they've old me that's the case, I usually deduce it's something else. Bad motherboard is usually IT-ese for "Oh shit, what do we do now? Stall and blame the motherboard".

If they give you crap about your harddrive being screwed up after they switch the mobo, they'll say "Oh we'll need to reformat your computer" and you'll ask "well can you save any of the data" and then the itiot will say "Oh well I can try" and he'll slave your hard drive to another computer and then he'll say no because if the file structure is corrupt he won't be able to read it. If it gets to that point, tell him to fuck off, give me your laptop and I'll retrieve the data.

Same shit happened to me at Siemens, I got all my email back when the ITiot couldn't get anything off my hard drive.

AGH!!!! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hatey hate hate hate!

They better be able to save all my crap because the only thing wrong was the display and nothing else. :P
